Overview
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is an Express Entry pathway for skilled applicants with foreign work experience who want to become permanent residents of Canada. You first create an Express Entry profile; if you meet the program criteria, you can enter the pool and may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) based on your CRS score.
Who this program is for
FSWP may suit you if you:
- Have skilled work experience outside Canada
- Can meet the program’s minimum requirements and selection factors
- Want a federal PR route (not tied to one province)
Key requirements (high level)
A strong FSWP profile typically involves:
- Meeting minimum eligibility requirements (including work experience, language, and other criteria under FSWP)
- Meeting FSWP selection factors (the program uses a selection grid for eligibility)
- Showing proof of funds if required (see note below)
- Being admissible (medical/character), as required for PR processing
Proof of funds note
FSWP applicants generally must show proof of funds unless exempt (for example, if authorized to work in Canada and holding a valid job offer).
Typical supporting documents (examples)
(You usually prepare these early because Express Entry relies on accurate profile claims.)
- Language test results
- Education evidence (and ECA if applicable)
- Work experience proof (reference letters, job duties, dates, pay evidence)
- Proof of funds (if required)
- Identity documents and family civil documents
- Police certificates / medical exams when requested during PR stage
How we support you
- Eligibility screening + points/CRS strategy
- Profile consistency review (work history, NOC/TEER alignment, dates)
- Document checklist + evidence organisation for an ITA-ready file
- Final PR submission audit after ITA
